If you were lucky enough to unwrap a new iPhone 6s during the holidays, Speck’s got a few jazzy new designs to keep it protected.
I selected a few from their CandyShell INKED collection after discovering how rugged their CandyShell Clear and CandyShell Grip cases were earlier this year (reviewed here).
First off, there’s Speck’s CandyShell INKED and CandyShell INKED Luxury Edition lines (differing in price and texture). The CandyShell INKED has 19 designs to choose from and sells for US $39.95 while the CandyShell INKED Luxury Collection (offering eight designs) retails for US $49.95.
Both lines snap on relatively easily and allow all ports, switches and camera lens to work according to plan. The protective raised bevel will avoid nasty screen accidents (which I’ve experienced while using slimmer profile cases!).
The cases are also meant to meet or exceed military standards for shock. The phone was tested with the MIL-STD-810G drop test standard, taking into account the influences that environmental stress has on a particular material throughout its lifespan.
They contain an exterior polycarbonate layer to help protect against impact together with an interior TPE layer to absorb shock.
The luxury version feels smooth to the touch with a metallic finish that won’t easily slip out of your hand. The one-piece, multi-layer design is meant to withstand several years of use.

The CandyShell INKED Luxury Edition took GottaBe Mobile’s Editor’s Choice Award for Best iPhone 6 Case this year. I’ll be keeping an eye on the finish (Speck claims that the tech it uses resists both scratching and fading).
Even though Speck sent me these three cases, I personally feel that the price is well justified considering the amount of protection and material that goes into building these cases.
