Mujirushi Ryohin (MUJI in Japanese) translates to “no-brand quality goods.” MUJI was founded in Japan in 1980 and now has more than 800 stores around the world, with over 7,000 items to choose from.
MUJI’s goal is to make people’s daily life comfortable and pleasant by providing products meant for a comfortable, satisfying living.
While being considerate of environmental issues, MUJI aims to offer functional and well-designed products for all lifestyles, from apparel, homewares, beauty products, stationery and food to plants and travel items (keep reading to enter a fun giveaway we’re hosting!).
MUJI expanded to Canada in 2014 with the opening of the Atrium location in downtown Toronto. The company opened its first store in Western Canada in August 2017 at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby.
The Metrotown store has proven very popular since its opening. Following its recently-celebrated first anniversary, MUJI Metrotown is currently being expanded from 7,770 to 12,305 square feet (the largest MUJI store in Canada is at Robson Street with 14,507 square feet).
Currently closed to complete the expansion, the store will re-open on Friday, October 19 at 10 am, with exclusive promotions and giveaways! Follow @mujicanada on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for the latest updates.
The expanded store will offer new services such as the Interior Advisory service, the Style Advisory service, and for the first time in Canada, a new complimentary alteration service.
This store will also be the second location to feature the Aroma Bar, which allows customers to create a customized fragrance blend by choosing from more than 40 essential oils to personalize their living space.
