With 146 rooms and suites to choose from, The Fitzwilliam Hotel, located in the heart of the city, has created a tasteful and welcoming place to call home while exploring Belfast.
The hotel uses energy-efficient LED lighting, recyclable water bottles, and promotes reusing towels, matched by several towel racks and hooks in the bathrooms, which not all hotels provide when trying to go green. This hotel gets it.
Rooms
My executive room has two sets of atmospheric hanging lights, a marble-top working desk, Bluetooth clock radio, several handy wall outlets, a cozy blue sofa with end tables, closet with bathrobes, iron and ironing board, electronic safe and lots of space for hanging clothes.
The off-white linen wallpaper contrasts nicely with the dark wood furnishings, mirrored accents, and black-and white-patterned carpeting.
With a big comfy bed, large screen TV, crisp Egyptian linens, fluffy bathrobes, and French vegan toiletry brand Memo stocked in the bathroom, I am set for a few days of luxury living.
There’s even a candle and box of matches by the bath for a relaxing soak.
Dining
Start your days with a filling breakfast in the first floor restaurant.
There’s a full continental breakfast buffet plus a hot menu to order from that includes the Full Fitzwilliam Breakfast (black and white pudding, pork & leek sausage, butter baked field mushroom, etc.), smoked salmon Benedict, kippers, pancakes, French toast, and an optional glass of Prosecco, mimosa or bubbly to accompany your meal.
The Fitzwilliam works with local beef supplier Lisdergan Meats in order to create healthy and sustainable dishes in a restaurant that’s been crowned UK’s AA Rosette for culinary excellence in the hospitality industry. From a full Fitzwilliam breakfast to grilled meats, seafood, and desserts, there’s a wide choice of dishes catering to all tastes.

On the ground floor, The Fitzwilliam Bar is the spot for a crafted cocktail, glass of bubbly, mocktail, and a good selection of local brews.

A daily afternoon tea, as well as a unique Crafternoon tea (mini pork pies and mini steak burgers, paired with two locally hand-crafted beers, yummy chocolate brownies and warm scones) are great choices for a break between sightseeing and perhaps dinner followed by a concert or opera performance (the Fitzwilliam is located beside the Grand Opera House).

Fitz Experiences include a cocktail masterclass and a made-to-order murder mystery night for up to 18 guests, ideal for anniversaries, birthdays, hen/stag parties or company events.
Guests with (small) four-legged companions can also book a dog-friendly room, as long as you bring your dog’s bed along for the stay. Visit Belfast has created an online guide for pet-friendly restaurants, pubs, and scenic walks throughout the city.
The friendly Fitzwilliam staff and concierge team are very accommodating and go out of their way to make sure that guests’ needs are met, from room requests through to housekeeping and dining services.

In the Hood
A five-minute walk brings you to Belfast’s main shopping street, Donegall Place. Gin lovers should keep the gorgeous Victorian Crown Liquor Saloon on their list of watering holes.

[Narrow Cathedral Quarter alleyways are filled with pubs and restaurants]
Valet parking is available, and why not keep the car there while exploring the city on foot? Grand Central Station is just a quick jaunt from the Fitzwilliam as are a number of shops, cafés, and restaurants. Music lovers will want to check out indie record shop Dragon Records, a two-minute walk from the hotel, en route to the Linen Hall Library and City Hall.
The Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast is located at 1-3 Great Victoria Road in Belfast, Ireland. Visit their website for details and to take advantage of their seasonal packages.
