To mark its 153rd anniversary, Holland America Line celebrated both the milestone and its deep Dutch heritage by officially naming its newest signature tulip, “Savour the Journey,” during a ceremony at the renowned Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands. The striking orange bloom stands as a living tribute to the brand’s origins and its enduring connection to Dutch culture, craftsmanship, and tradition.
Exclusively cultivated for Holland America Line by esteemed Dutch grower KP de Geus of Maveridge International, the Savour the Journey tulip embodies qualities synonymous with the brand: elegance, warmth, hospitality, and meticulous attention to detail. Its vivid orange petals and radiant yellow center reflect both heritage and vitality, symbolizing the long-standing bond between the cruise line and the Netherlands’ celebrated horticultural tradition.

The tulip was officially unveiled during a special ceremony at the Keukenhof that brought together company leaders, partners, and guests. The event highlighted a one-year process of discovering and adopting the new tulip, underscoring the cruise line’s longstanding relationship with the gardens and its Dutch roots.
“Our Dutch heritage is central to who we are, and naming our Savour the Journey tulip at Keukenhof is a meaningful way to honour that connection,” said Nico Bleichrodt, vice president of international sales and marketing for Holland America Line.

A live sand-art performance revealed the tulip’s name, followed by a formal dedication led by Captains Eric Barhorst and Jeroen Baijens, grower KP de Geus, and tulip godmother and Olympic medalist Joy Beune. The celebration concluded with a champagne toast amid the vibrant spring blooms.
“It’s truly special to be part of this moment,” said Beune. “Tulips and speed skating are both deeply rooted in Dutch identity. I love that Holland America Line is celebrating its heritage in such a meaningful way, and ‘Savour the Journey’ is a sentiment I strongly connect with—valuing the experience as much as the destination.”
