Last night, Fable Diner hosted a media opening at their newly-minted Mount Pleasant location at the base of Vancouver’s first skyscraper, seven-story Lee Building at the corner of Main and Broadway.

Executive Chef Trevor Bird was on hand to greet guests and to offer bites from a menu focusing on casual diner plates. East Van’s Fable Diner adheres to the same core farm-to-table values that underlie Bird’s busy Kitsilano Fable which opened four years ago on West 4th Avenue.
Fable works with local suppliers, preparing classic diner items with interesting and creative twists using food that showcases the best of each season.
Trevor takes on this venture with original partners Kathy Schleyer and Ron MacGillivray. The iconic space has hosted a diner for the past 67 years (Aristocratic Diners opened here in 1949).
For Fable, the room’s been completely overhauled to function as a chef-based kitchen alongside a comfortable, welcoming space for guests to meet and dine. The redesign pays homage to the classic diner, with comfy booths and a service counter.
As with Fable Kits, the menu changes frequently to reflect local product availability, however diner staples such as Fable’s homemade burger will be a mainstay, well paired with a good ol’ fashioned creamy milkshake.
