Exciting news for our travel friends! Vancouver’s YVR International Airport is slated to add over 20 new food and beverage options within its terminals through 2021.
As if the gorgeous, First Nations-inspired decor wasn’t enough of a draw, travellers will now be spoiled for choice when hunger strikes en route.
Longterm mainstays Tim Horton’s, Starbucks and Hanami Express are soon to receive some very welcome competition. As a health-minded frequent traveller, it’s music to my ears when I hear that Pacific Farms Market will also be included in the collection of YVR eateries.
Pacific Farms will have outlets in both domestic and international terminals.
On several occasions, I’ve spotted similar farm concepts at Portland’s PDX terminal, often wishing Vancouver had similar offerings.
Many of the new culinary outlets will be first-time concepts for YVR. Hawksworth Kitchen by David Hawksworth is just one of the restaurants on tap to open inside the domestic terminal. Amongst David’s grab-and-go menu will be house-made pastas, cured meats, organic salads and wood-fired pizzas.
The Dirty Apron, a Vancouver cooking school that’s gained a loyal following for its imaginative culinary programs, will also get a new home at YVR. Look for freshly-baked goods plus locally-sourced, seasonal produce.
Craft beer lovers en route to their final destination will be happy to know that Whistler Brewing Lodge, Red Truck Beer Stop and Steamworks Bar & Restaurant will also service YVR in the not-too-distant future.
Hopping on an international flight? Local faves 49th Parallel and Purebread will be on hand to offer several delicious options, making choosing an in-flight snack or meal a thing of the past.
We’re looking forward to YVR’s culinary enhancements!
