Eat Your Heart Out Launch-3

Last night, the Third Annual Eat Your Heart Out fundraising week kicked off with a launch event at the Galleria at Port Moody City Hall. Our Vancouver group started at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and headed off into the evening on a Vancouver Trolley.

As we arrived in Port Moody, a wine mingler was underway with guests enjoying the atmosphere while learning about Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation (ERHF) and its goal of providing better care and additional services to its patients. The hospital currently offers 24/7 emergency care with over 45,000 emergency visits annually.

Executive Director Charlene Giovanetti-King discussed the importance of raising funds for equipment purchases, medical education, and community health programs, all within Fraser Health’s fastest-growing community. Charlene is passionate about this event, one she believes will positively impact those that require extra care and attention in the area.

A heartfelt story by one of Eagle Ridge Hospital’s ex-patients, Catherine Guerin, gave a real-life look at how the hospital helped her through an emergency health scare, right down to the staff’s calming support, offering advice on all aspects of her recovery.

This important event launches a dining series in Port Moody. Six participating Tri-Cities restaurants (The Boathouse, St. James’s Well, Mr. Mikes Steakhouse, Onyx Steakhouse and Lounge, Browns Social House and Saint St. Grill) are all offering a three-course $35 dinner through February 23 with $10 from each meal going back to the ERHF.

Of the three restaurants on our loop (two loops each visited three of the six restaurants), Browns has the most casual atmosphere while Saint St. Grill is filled with old chandeliers and unique finds, the dish we tried the most polished in terms of ingredients, taste, and presentation. Unfortunately due to low lighting, it was hard to get a decent photo of Saint St. Grill.

We were transported by trolley to three restaurants for sampler tasting menus. This was a fun way to enjoy the event without the need to worry about parking or indulging in a glass or two of wine (beer or cocktails). Afterwards, groups returned by trolley to the Galleria for desserts, coffee, and tea.
