Chasing those winter chills away with a sunny destination? Before you head out, get prettied up with CND Nails’ latest nail collection, New Wave. Last month, I was invited to get my nails New Waved-out at Gastown’s Onyx Aesthetics Studio (421 Abbott Street). In addition to brow and facial services, Onyx is the only salon in Vancouver that uses (and sells) CND nail products. There are two CND polish services offered here: Shellac™ 14+ Day Nail Colour and Vinylux™ Weekly Polish.

Shellac™ uses a special top coat and CND™ LED lamp for quick drying time and removal and is “3-FREE”, avoiding the use of Formaldehyde, Toluene or DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate).

Vinylux™ promises seven-day, chip-resistant wear with a fast-drying two-step application. It’s also “7 FREE”, meaning no toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde resin, xylene or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK).

I like the fact that the Vinylux™ polish includes a base coat in its formula. Just a few coats of Banana Clips hot yellow, a CND top coat and I’m ready to go!
