As the days gradually begin to shorten and temperatures fall, we begin to look at layering options. We recently received a few items from PEARL iZUMi’s current women’s lineup to road test, from a slightly-longer short to a cozy zippered jersey for cool mornings and evenings on the road.
Prospect 7” Cycling Shorts
With a 7” inseam and 4” high-rise waistband, PEARL’s Prospect Short is a classic short with a bonus removable chamois (also less bulky than other models) and deep (smart-phone-friendly) dual side pockets along the thigh.
Having the option to remove the chamois is ideal for fitness classes or power walks.
Its silicone grippers around the leg openings help to keep the shorts in place and there’s a small reflective logo on the left rear for some visibility in low-light conditions.

Summit Hooded Hooded Thermal Jersey
The Summit is perfect for those days or evenings when a thick fleece or jacket is too heavy and can serve double duty as a mid-layer in colder climates.
The recycled polyester material is super soft and adds a significant amount of warmth given its weight. The high-stretch, technical grid fleece jersey sports a longer hem at the rear to keep you warm on rides or trail walks, while the hood is large enough to fit under a helmet.
A two-way zipper zips up to protect your neck from the wind; a pair of zippered front side pockets for your hands finishes off this essential layering jersey.

Attack Jersey
The Attack Jersey is light enough for late summer rides as well as for wearing under a jacket or hoody. In keeping with PEARL iZUMi’s commitment to the environment, the jersey’s lightweight, moisture-wicking SELECT Transfer fabric is made from recycled water bottles.

Three rear pockets (containing a reflective logo) stash snacks, ID and keys and there’s side and rear grippers along the bottom of the inside hem to keep the jersey in place on rides.

The form-fitting Attack Jersey feels so soft and cozy from the moment you put it on. The collar has been updated from previous versions for a more flattering feminine appearance. We also noticed that the front is designed a bit higher versus the rear as compared to other jerseys we own.

Women’s P.R.O. Short
These shorts are super comfortable and include a supportive, breathable chamois constructed with plush Italian PRO transfer fabric for great rides.
The short comes in Nightshade Eve (dark purple) with a lighter purple pattern (and an even more colourful waistband) as well as in Dark Ink and Black. Seven engineered panels are used to minimize seaming for the perfect contoured fit.
The waistband is also soft yet supportive and the seamless hem has a patterned silicon grip pattern so the shorts stay in place when cycling.
The right side of the leg and left rear sport Pearl Izumi reflective logos for added visibility.
The form-fitting P.R.O Short is made using 46% nylon, 38% polyester and 16% LYCRA® elastane and is available in XS to XXL. CAD $187.49/USD $138.75
Classic Jersey
Pearl Izumi’s Classic Jersey is a super cozy, fast-drying and lightweight essential that layers well and is made using 100% recycled polyester, part of the brand’s commitment to lightening their environmental footprint via its Pedal to Zero™ program to get people out of their cars and onto a bike.

Each garment in their collection includes a stat with a cycling distance required to offset its carbon impact. In the Classic Jersey’s case, the distance is 17km (11 mi).
With three rear pockets for your essentials and a full-length locking zipper, this jersey is designed with raglan-style sleeves to provide more range of motion when on the bike.
There’s 14 patterns to choose from (not all sizes available, as this collection is winding down for the season, but will return for next year’s collection).
