Sangre de Fruta, a Bowen Island, BC-based apothecary brand, was founded by Allison Audrey Weldon following years of studying under a collective of master holistic practitioners in Vancouver’s own Kitsilano neighbourhood during the 70’s.

Inspired by “a desire to share these secrets of holistic indulgence”, Allison created Sangre de Fruta’s organic line with a deeper appreciation for the quiet power of the natural world while showcasing the key elements of self-care: quality botanicals, daily rituals and mindfulness.

Every one of Sangre de Fruta’s products are made in small batches on Bowen Island, BC and are organic, vegan, gluten-, GMO- and cruelty-free and avoid synthetics, fillers, fragrance and preservatives. They even include crystal-infused glacier water in their shampoo!
For those of you who’ve not yet had the pleasure of visiting Bowen Island, it’s one of our favourite weekend escapes, accessible via a 20-minute ferry from West Vancouver’s Horseshoe Bay (at the entrance to Howe Sound), ideal for a day hike, kayak or lazy day by the water’s edge in tiny Snug Cove.
The scents are influenced by famous painters and a princess: Garden of Earthly Delights is inspired by Dutchman Hieronymus Bosch’s painting, Head of Roses by the 1935 Salvador Dali painting of the same name and Neroli Noir is derived after Anna Maria de la Trémoill, the 17th century princess from Nerola.

Botanical Shampoo
Sangre de Fruta’s Botanical Shampoo includes nourishing Camellia seed oil, soothing Calendula and stimulating Ginseng root. Added to the blend are high quality essential oils. Just make sure to really lather a bit in your hands before washing your hair, as the formula likes a little love to get soapy.
