Michelen Guide Vancouver

This week, Vancouver joins Toronto as the only Canadian MICHELIN Guide destinations (and among seven in North America). Our foodie city is officially on the map!

The first selections will be unveiled in the fall, according to Destination Vancouver.

Inspectors award MICHELIN Stars – One, Two or Three – to unparalleled cuisine. The Guides also bestow Bib Gourmand ratings on restaurants that offer great quality food at good prices, and award the MICHELIN Green Star to restaurants that are leaders in sustainable gastronomy.

Chef Matthew Kammerer, Executive Chef of the two Michelin-starred and Michelin Green Star restaurant The Harbor House Inn in Mendocino County weighed in on the announcement, after working with students from both the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts (PICA) and Vancouver Community College’s (VCC) School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts in presenting a menu at the launch reception.

“As a former culinary student myself, it was a privilege to be back in this environment. This time around it was exciting to be in a mentorship role to help the VCC and PICA students be inspired and to learn about a more sustainable way of cooking”.

According to Royce Chwin, President & CEO, Destination Vancouver, “Vancouver has long enjoyed tremendous acclaim for our culinary scene and the MICHELIN Guide Vancouver further elevates the city’s reputation as a global dining destination”.

This is very exciting news for our city and we’re looking forward to seeing which of Vancouver’s coveted dining establishments make the Michelen cut of excellence!
