Upon our approach into Curaçao’s Hato International Airport, we’re greeted with those crystal blue waters below and get excited at the prospect of loading our rental car with snorkel gear, snacks and beach towels, then making our way to one of the many excellent spots around the island during our two-week visit to this lovely Dutch Caribbean island.

Rental car agency Just Drive Curaçao is only a one-minute drive from the airport. When you reserve with Just Drive, they note your arrival time and dispatch an employee to meet you with a shuttle van outside the airport for free pick-up (and return drop-off service).

Exit the airport, walk down the street, pass the outdoor rental car desks and cross the street where you will find the a glass-enclosed ‘bus stop’ with a few rental car brand names on a sign. This is where the driver will be waiting.

Just Drive Curaçao offers 24/7 road service, unlimited mileage and a variety of cars to choose from. Prices include full insurance, CDW and tax. Additional drivers are free of charge.

After researching online, we learned that it’s best to rent a car to get around Curaçao, so we reserved a Nissan Versa to allow us the chance to explore some of the island’s best snorkel beaches, shops, cafés, bars and restaurants.

There’s a range of vehicles available depending on your needs, from a compact Toyota Yaris or Nissan Note to larger, family-friendly models (Kia Sonnet, Nissan Rogue, Toyota Sienna).

When it’s time to return to the airport, ‘just drive’ to their office and they’ll get behind the wheel of your vehicle to bring you back in time for your flight.
