West Restaurant-6

Before we close off another year, I wanted to give a huge thanks to my small staff of dedicated contributors and to all of you who’ve taken the time to read and comment on our stories — or enter a contest or two. Your support means the world to me!

Winnipeg/Museum for Human Rights

Blog awards aside, this year’s been the most exciting both financially and adventure-wise! I’ve already lots of amazing new projects and travel planned for 2016 too.

Fishing excursion/Kathleen Lake

Sometimes it’s easy to get wrapped up in what ‘everybody else is doing’. To that I’d like to answer, if my health scare has taught me one thing, it’s to forge your own course and be grateful to greet each day with renewed energy and the will to get the job done.

Peace on Earth.
I remember a time without security checks at the airport and scanning bags and backpacks at big arena concerts and festivals. Our world in 2015 was far from peaceful given the horrendous war in Syria and the Paris attacks. When we’re scurrying off from one event to another, from one work week to the next, it’s often hard to imagine living with famine or in constant fear for your life.

Toasting amongst friends

Let’s truly hope for a kinder, more respectful year ahead. To that, I raise a toast to Vancouver, Canada and to the rest of the world. Let’s make 2016 safe and happy for everyone! ❤️
