For the first time, goop, the lifestyle brand founded and helmed by Gwyneth Paltrow, brings its beloved pop-up MRKT concept to Toronto.
Opening June 7, goop MRKT Toronto will take shape inside of The Hazelton Hotel in the city’s Yorkville neighborhood, with goop-approved faves in clean beauty, wellness, luxury fashion and curated home essentials.
Last year, goop held the first international installment of its wellness summit, In goop Health, in Vancouver. The two-day event included thought-provoking discussions with leading voices in the wellness space, beauty treatments, spiritual health workshops and fitness sessions.
“We’ve always been in awe of our neighbours to the north, which is why we picked Canada as the first place to launch e-commerce internationally in 2017. Since then, we’ve created moments in Montreal and Vancouver, so it felt like the natural next step to activate in Toronto with our first goop MRKT pop-up shop. We hope locals and travelers alike will enjoy what we have to offer at goop MRKT Toronto,” said Melanie Ramer, goop’s vice president of retail.
“Creating the right tone for the pop-up has been an interesting process, a coming together of the psyche of what Toronto is all about with the strong personality of the goop brand,” added George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg of international design firm Yabu Pushelberg.
The 1,300-square-foot pop-up space in Yorkville, birthplace of the Toronto Film Festival, inspired Yabu Pushelberg to draw on the impermanence of a film set when designing the goop pop-up interior.
From high-fashion moments to curated housewares, MRKT is designed for guests to be immersed in subtle, unexpected details that collectively tell the stories of a goop shopper, observer and admirer.
The space will be stocked with goods across home, fashion, beauty, wellness and specialty items. Guests can shop a Canada-specific edit of ready-to-wear, swim and activewear from brands including La DoubleJ, ATM, Bassike, Rhode, Natalie Martin and goop’s own lines of G. Label apparel and G. Sport activewear, as well as jewelry from designers including La Californienne and Foundrae.
The clean beauty apothecary will be packed with skin care, makeup, and body care from brands including Tata Harper, Kosas, May Lindstrom, Necessaire and Vintner’s Daughter. It will also feature goop’s own collection of skin care, skin-boosting ingestibles, plus artisanal fragrance, bath and body essentials.
goop MRKT will remain open until September 22 at 118 Yorkville Avenue. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm and Sundays, noon to 5 pm.
