One of my absolute favourite events is just around the corner. For the past six years, I’ve been a part of the Vancouver International Fringe Festival. It’s a fabulous place to call home for the 10 days it happens each September. Now in its 27th year, the festival draws crowds of all types to its over 700 performances of 89 shows, not to mention the Opening Night, Pick of the Fringe, and the St. Ambroise Fringe Bar at AGRO Café.

There’s an online schedule available, or pick up a printed copy at any Blenz Coffee location in town. As well, the iPhone app is available for real-time program information and tickets.

Tickets are currently on sale for all performances. Most shows cost either $10 or $12, depending on the day, and several productions have a half price show added to their schedules in order to get the buzz going.

New this year is an event that builds on the chaos that everyone loves and shares during the Fringe. This fast and furious preview event will be hosted by Toby Berner, winner of 2008’s Canadian Comedy Award for Best Sketch Troupe with his group, Canadian Content.

Every Fringe artist will get a chance to perform the best two minutes of their show in hopes that they’ll get circled in program guides.

I’ve been given a pair of tickets to give away for Fringe For All, happening on September 8. RT the following to enter:

I’d love to see 2 minutes of every #VanFringe artist in one night! A pair of tickets up for grabs via @arianecdesign

I’ll draw a name at random on Friday, September 2nd at 5 pm. Good luck and hope to see you at the Fringe!
