Lufthansa’s official centennial anniversary is set to take place on January 6, 2026. The date coincides with the founding of the first Lufthansa in 1926 as well as its maiden flight of that same year. The new Boeing 787-9 will serve as the anniversary flagship aircraft and will enter service in the near future.

I’m a fan of specially-designed livery projects, from major sporting events to Alaska Air’s Disneyland Star Wars (that I had a chance to catch at Seattle-Tacoma Airport last month).

Six of the German aviation brand’s main sub-fleets will receive the 100th anniversary design:
– Boeing 787-9 (AKA “Berlin”, the first aircraft to receive the livery)
– Airbus A380
– Airbus A350-1000
– Airbus A350-900
– Airbus A320
– Boeing 747-8

Look for the white crane whose wings blend into the aircraft’s own, together with a deep blue background and Lufthansa logo on the tail.
The livery also incorporates a prominent “100” on the left side of the fuselage, a “1926 | 2026” timeline graphic on the right, and a large “100” on the underside to make the aircraft instantly recognizable from the ground or the sky.

The full roll-out will wrap up in autumn 2026.
