With a 70-year history of grilling innovation, Weber has evolved from one basic aim: The quest for a better steak. The early model BBQ above was built by George Stephen back in the 1950’s. Sadly, the steaks he served to his guests at a barbecue party wound up in flames, but this only inspired him to improve on his first attempt.
George’s day job was at Weber Brothers Metal Works, where he spent his days welding half spheres together to build buoys. Those half spheres sparked the idea of taking one half of a sphere, attaching legs to it, punching holes at the bottom for air flow and finally, placing a lid on top. Burnt steaks and fires were now a thing of the past, as the Weber grill was born and led to years of continued development.

A 70th anniversary limited-edition charcoal kettle (in four heritage colours) is currently available to pay homage to 1950’s Americana.

Fast-forward to 2025, where we’ve just unpacked a beautiful Weber sky blue Q 2800N+ gas grill, complete with a high-dome lid, large grilling surface, and temperature range from 250° to 700°F for a wide range of grilling options.
This is the perfect, yet mighty little BBQ (with 320 total square inches of cooking area) that can be placed on a portable cart and travel to campsites, beach parties and more. We love its compact footprint that works with small gardens and condo balconies.
Weber’s Plus burner allows the heat to bake and roast at a low temperature of 250°F or crank up the heat to 700°F for high heat searing. And the gauge moves quickly once ignited! We were amazed to see how fast the grill heated up to begin cooking. As well, the porcelain-enamelled, cast-iron grates create an impressive sear.
Optional accessories include a grill cover, portable cart, rotisserie, roasting trays, griddle insert, brushes, and replacement parts.

[Rotisserie assembled on the Q 2800N+]
The 100% recycled PET grill cover is made with UV inhibitors to resist fading and contains drawstrings on front and back for a secure fit. Note that you’ll need to remove the side trays in order to properly fit the cover over the BBQ. It would be great for Weber to offer a Q 2800N cover that fits over the entire unit.

[Smoke Grey]
This model ships with a five-year, no rust-through/burn-through warranty for lid assembly, stainless steel burner tubes, porcelain-enamelled, cast-iron cooking grates, plastic components, plus two years on all remaining parts (all exclude fading or discolouration).

[Flame Red]
Colour options include Midnight Black, Charcoal Grey, Flame Red, Sky Blue, and Smoke Grey; CAD $549/USD $449.
We were graciously sent a Weber Q 2800N+ with accessories for the purpose of this feature. Opinions, as always, remain our own.
