In Henrik Ibsen’s moving story, Ghosts, Helene Alving is about to dedicate an orphanage she’s built in memory of her late husband, Captain Alving. Due to her husband’s unfaithful behavior, Helen’s long kept hidden the negative aspects of her marriage – and no one’s kept more in the dark than her son, Oswald, sent away to avoid being corrupted by his father.
Helene now has the courage to escape the ghosts of her past by telling her son the brutal truth about his father. When Oswald returns from life as a painter in France, he reveals just how much how he’s been impacted by his father’s dissolute life.
