There are many reasons to be proud to be Canadian and on July 1, we will pass an incredible milestone in our country’s history, Canada’s 150th birthday! This year, the Canadian spirit will emanate from Waterfront Park with thousands putting on their best red and white to join in the celebration, hosted by The Rotary Club of Lions Gate.
The Rotary Club’s been hosting this event for 29 years running, and have been a vital part of celebrating many historic moments: BC’s 150th birthday in 2008, Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Flag in 2015 and the 100th anniversary of women’s first right to vote in Canada in 2016.
Rotary’s Canada Day event will celebrate moments through Canadian history, embracing Canada’s identity as a land of equality, inclusion and opportunity.
Head over to the 200 block of Esplanade on July 1 for a free, family-friendly event, featuring live entertainment, food trucks and activities for all ages.
New this year, The Rotary Club of Lions Gate is also proud to introduce a special evening event to continue the celebration of the birth of our nation. This event runs from 6:30 to 10:30 pm on Canada Day, with a free live concert in the park, food trucks, a beer garden featuring Red Truck Brewing — and the perfect spot to view Vancouver’s Canada Day fireworks!
Enjoy the sounds of Arrival (Abba Tribute Band), Dreams (Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band) and The Powder Blues Band.
Come join in on the celebrations and create lasting memories with your family of Canada’s 150th birthday! For more info, visit North Vancouver Canada Day online.
This event would not be possible without the hard work of incredible volunteers and the generosity of major supporters, including Jim Pattison Subaru North Shore, the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver, the Government of Canada and local businesses.
