Since many of us are still working from home and taking meetings in shared spaces, a good set of wireless headphones has become an essential at our desks!
With that, we decided to check out Jabra’s slender, high-quality Elite 45h headphones, after a very positive experience with their Elite 75t active noise-cancelling wireless earbuds.
These offer up to 50 hours of battery life with a fast charge time of 15 minutes, to provide 10 hours of battery power (you’ll get a full charge after 1.5 hours). They’ve got the standard multi-function button to answer/end phone calls and to handle multiple calls, plus volume control, voice assist/mute mic and Bluetooth pairing capability.
Jabra ships these with a drawstring carry pouch and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable. They’ll also go into sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity in order to conserve power; pressing any button will wake them up again. Via the well-designed Jabra Sound+ smart phone app, sleep mode time can be adjusted.
Voice assist (Siri, Google Assistant) is but a (Voice) button away. You can even use voice guidance to help set up the headphones, and if you choose to keep it on, voice assist will continue to give you connection and battery status messages. Also nice to see that two smartphones can be paired to one Elite 45h.
As with other Jabra Bluetooth-enabled products, you can completely customize your listening experience. Once you set up the Elite 45h using the app and pairing via Bluetooth, a two-minute hearing test allows the app to calibrate the headphones to your own hearing patterns.
And if you’re not in the mood for tunes, there’s several soundscapes to enjoy while you work, work out or travel, including ocean waves, perfect storm, babbling brook, pink or white noise, waterfall, or even a crowd.
The six music presets (neutral, speech, bass boost, treble boost, smooth, energize) can be further enhanced by adding your own preset to the grouping, allowing for bass, mid-range and treble levels to be changed according to your liking. If you don’t like your alteration, there’s an undo arrow on the top right.
I like the simple, stylish design reminiscent of BlueParrot’s Zik line (Jabra’s parent company GN audio purchased BlueParrot in 2016). These on-ear phones wear very comfortably and don’t feel as cumbersome as some of the older over-the-ear styles.
Jabra’s Elite 45h comes in Titanium/Black, Gold/Beige, Copper/Black, Navy and Black, and available at Best Buy in the US and at Jabra online in Canada (with free shipping).
