Luxury fashion brand UGG was founded in 1978 by Australian surfer Brian Smith. He relocated from his native home Down Under to the California coast with a dream of designing footwear, beginning with the sheepskin-lined Classic Boot.
Since then, the line has expanded from sheepskin, suede and leather footwear to hoodies, sweatshirts, robes, outwear, handbags, blankets and throws.
This season, we’ve chosen to feature two items from UGG’s women’s footwear line: the Disquette and the Mini Alpine Lace Boot.
The Disquette is morphed from two UGG slippers – Coquette and Disco – and adds a unique slipper with a one-inch retro-style platform sole to this well-loved slip-on. The Disquette can be worn indoors or out and while we envision wearing these around the house on hardwood floors, the Disquette is easy to pair with dresses, jeans and leggings.
They contain a suede upper, sheepskin collar, 10mm of sheepskin lining and insole, an EVA outsole plus textile binding made from 100% recycled polyester fibers. The sheepskin is sourced from Australia, Ireland, the UK or the US, and has been artificially dyed and treated.
They’re available in Chestnut, Charcoal and Black, in sizes 5 to 12. CAD $125/USD $00
The Classic Mini Alpine Lace boot combines a classic hiker boot with fluffy sheepskin collar and tongue to create an adorable, functional and warm boot with high quality 10mm sheepskin lining. The outsole is UGG’s own UGGplush™ material (80% upcycled will, 20% Lyocell sock liner). Colourful laces can be swapped out with a solid colour (included) to change up the look.
The renewable sugarcane in the SugarSole™ foam outsole allows UGG to reduce dependency on fossil fuels by replacing petroleum-based ethylene, absorbing 1.6 pounds of CO2 for every pound of ethylene replaced.
Available in Burnt Cedar, Chestnut and Sand, in sizes 5-12; USD $160
