Burly Goat Weizenbock

The latest from Granville Island Brewery’s Black Notebook Series, the Burly Goat Weizenbock is a strong, hearty German-style wheat beer. Like its name, it’s got a good kick with a BU of 35 and an ABV of 8.4%.

GIB brewmaster Vern Lambourne was inspired by one of his all-time favourite beers, Schneider Weisse’s Aventinus, in creating a German-style wheat beer brewed to the strength of a Doppel Bock.

The deep ruby and cloudy beer has strong malt flavour, with a colour that’s not as dark as you might expect from a double bock. Its alcohol value offers a very satisfying afterglow, helping to warm you up while adding enjoyment to any cold winter evening. We tried this one with a plate of pasta tossed with a meaty tomato sauce, offering an excellent combination of tastes!

Find Burly Goat Weizenbock at both GIB’s Taproom and retail store on Granville Island as well as in select stores in BC and Alberta. The limited release is priced at $5.50 for a 650 ml bottle.
