PDX NOW zine collection-1

It isn’t too difficult to showcase a city as vibrant and eclectic as Portland, Oregon but Travel Portland’s recent Zine campaign is pretty cool! Last week, I was invited to Portland Craft (very fitting!) on Main Street, where Travel Portland had just unveiled the entire collection of 30 zines in all shapes and sizes.

We sipped on Basecamp Brewing’s ESB while checking out the original artwork that went into some of the coolest little zines I’ve seen in recent memory.

Some feature Portland history, others food trucks and neighbourhood hot spots. No matter what, there’ll be a zine to perk your interest and get you back down to tax-free Portland for craft beer, food, touring, shopping and live music.

The guides are hand-drawn and are meant to inspire travel down to the city that put designer doughnuts and craft beer on the map.

And speaking of craft beer, mark your calendars for Collabofest happening on January 30, where Base Camp Brewing will tap their special concoction for the event, along with over 18 limited-edition brews created by some of Portland’s fave craft breweries and cider makers.

The zines are going to be distributed around Vancouver (as well as Seattle) starting in January. Look for pop-up newsstands to house a rotating assortment of these cool and colourful guides to the city. They’re also available for viewing online via Travel Portland.

If you’re headed down to PDX, check out the Deal Zine, with savings from over 90 locations across Portland. If you book a stay via TravelPortland.com, you’ll get info on how to download the Chinook Book app. By entering a unique code, gain access to discounts and a pair of these cool black and white limited-edition socks from The Athletic to keep your tootsies cozy in the hotel room!

A big thanks to Travel Portland for inviting me out to experience the zines, good food, great ESB and conversation with fellow travel writers!
