Yesterday afternoon, I joined several other writers and fashionistas just a few hours prior to the big grand opening of Old Navy’s downtown Vancouver flagship store.
As Old Navy staff and management were going over final preparations for the 6 pm public opening, we were off perusing the shelves and enjoying a candy station near the check-out line.
The outgoing staff were gathered around for one final countdown talk with store manager Mike Gerrits. The entire group’s in good spirits, ready to take on the store’s inaugural busy holiday shopping season.
As I moved around the two floors of the over 17,000-square-foot space, I noticed a lot of classic sweaters, parkas, and jeans for men, women, kids, and toddlers.
Some fun jewellery accessories caught my eye, particularly this cute little golden squirrel on a chain and the owl earrings – easy stocking-stuffers.
The store is spacious, with the iconic navy blue San Francisco logo set on a brick wall.
Ryan Kesler will sign autographs this Saturday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm and there’s a lot of deals going on, including a free women’s frost-free vest with any purchase for the first 500 shoppers (also on Saturday, starting at 10 am).
Old Navy is located at the south-west corner of Granville and Robson Streets in Vancouver.
