Last weekend, we checked out the first edition of the Vancouver Bike Show at Vancouver Convention Centre West.
The show is part of the much larger Vancouver Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show. Cycling has become popular in Vancouver, with a growing number of dedicated cycling lanes and a culture that fosters two-wheel commuting.
Pro-trials riding legend Ryah Leech got the crowd roaring with some pretty cool ramp tricks.
Cyclebetes was on site to promote their National Bike Relay. The Spin-a-Thon, an indoor stationary bike relay, was in full swing when we were there. Hosted by high school students across Canada and the US, the Spin-a-Thon helps to raise funds and awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
[My husband was eyeing the Wilier Triestina road bike]
[I admired Wilier’s attention to craftsmanship and design on this bike]
We saw an array of mountain bikes, road bikes, electric bikes and recumbent bikes. The show was well-timed to take advantage of the 2011 cycling season.
We came across everything from Pilot Rider’s curious and colourful helmet liners to Loeka’s 100% recyclable line of women’s outdoor apparel.
Looking forward to seeing the Vancouver Bike Show break apart from the Outdoor Adventure & Travel component next year, as it’s worthy of its own venue and attention!
