The fall season brings about a lot of great annual events to Vancouver. Case in point, Interior Design Show West, happening at the (new) Vancouver Convention Centre from October 14 to 17.
This is your chance to feast your eyes on gorgeous design from around BC and abroad. I’ve been to IDS West in previous years and always come away newly inspired in so many ways. As a graphic designer, I appreciate the dimensionality of interior/product design and am in awe of what some of these designers can conjure up!
In case you hadn’t already heard, world-famous designer Karim Rashid will be speaking on Friday, October 15, at 4:30 pm. Karim has won over 300 design awards and his talent is recognized in over 35 countries to date.
Karim’s unique style can be found in so many products and places. He has collaborated with hoteliers and restauranteurs around the globe.

From high tech (LaCie) to luxury goods (Swarovski), he’s a legend and continues to exhibit his work in galleries. He’s won the prestigious Red Dot award, I.D. Magazine’s Annual Design Review, IDSA, and the Chicago Athenaeum Good Design award, to name a few.
In addition to Karim’s Vancouver appearance, a handful of talent is lined up for the event’s Para Design Stage:
Sarah Richardson and Tommy Smythe of Sarah’s House 3 on HGTV
Kelly Deck, Director of Kelly Deck Design, a full-service interior design firm based in Vancouver
Tony Robins, internationally renowned architect, owner of Vancouver-based AA Robins Architectural firm
Jennifer Kostuik, Vancouver gallery owner
Johnson McLeod, Design Consultant
Larry Beasley, former Director of Planning for the City of Vancouver
Maginnis Cocivera, Urban Designer who’s worked alongside Larry Beasley
