Hipstamatic, makers of the iPhone camera app to spice up your photo taking pleasure, has added a new white version of the smart looking retro Hipstacase 100 to its line up.
I love the design of this slim case, and had fellow gadget lover John Biehler fit his new white iPhone 4S onto it as well as testing the case with my black iPhone 4.
The case is designed to fit both iPhone4 models. I love the tripod accessory that adds functionality to an already popular camera.
There’s a little notch hidden at the bottom of the circular “lens” area of the case that the metal tripod attachment slides into. Once the tripod’s been screwed on and locked, the camera is ready for use.
I tested the camera with the tripod on a desktop and it works just fine. The tripod attachment is not secured in any other way, so it’s meant to be used upright on a table, desk, or other stable surface.
There’s also a removable nylon wrist lanyard to mimic point and shoot cameras. The lanyard can be placed at either the right or left edge on the case’s bottom.
The case is relatively easy to take on and off the phone by gripping the edges and gently lifting it out. I found the easiest way to remove the case was by nudging the top two corners of the case and then lifting the top of the phone out from behind.
The lens area won’t distort the photos, whether or not using the flash. And as usual, I’m happy with a case that easily allows a 30-pin connector to start up iTunes upon engagement.
In fact, all ports and buttons are exposed on this case. Whether or not that’s an important factor when choosing a case, I’ll leave to my readers. I just thought it would be worth a mention.
The Hipstacase 100 is available online for US $39.95. You’ll need to sign up for a Hipstaccount first, but then you’ll be considered part of the Hipstamatic community and will receive updates on new products such as the newly-minted white case — how I found out about this limited edition model in the first place.
