Cuisinart Elite Collection 12-cup food processor

Kitchen appliances have become simpler, faster, and more smartly designed over the years, and Cuisinart’s products are no exception. When Cuisinart Canada sent me the new Elite Collection™ 12-Cup food processor to check out, the unboxing led to a lot of parts and accessories that when assembled, formed a compact, well-designed appliance for regular use on our kitchen countertop.

Cuisinart 12-Cup Elite food processor-1

With a motor boasting 1,000 watts of power, this sleek food processor can accommodate three liters (12 cups) of ingredients to chop, shred, slice and purée, with the option of using one of two included nested and sealed bowls.

What I like about this food processor is that unlike our Philips European-designed older machine, the Cuisinart’s stem adapter will stay in place (along with disc or cutting blade) when emptying the contents of the bowls.

Cuisinart 12-Cup Elite food processor-2

The slicing disc is adjustable from 1 to 6mm thick-to-thin slicing while the shredding disc is reversible: one side fine shredding, the other medium. We used the smaller 4-cup bowl for smaller jobs and saved the larger 12-cup capacity bowl to chop up a bunch of veggies for soup.

Once the lid is locked into place, you’re good to go. Cuisinart uses a BladeLock System and SealTight™ system for safety and maximum ease at clean-up time.

Once you’re finished using the machine, clicking on the side buttons will release the cover. There’s three settings: on, off, and pulse, all using an electronic blue LED light to indicate when each is in use.

Cuisinart 12-Cup Elite food processor-3

Accommodate ingredients of all sizes with the large pusher plus a smaller pusher that snap-fits inside of it. The Elite Collection™ 12-Cup food processor comes with one small and one large chopping and mixing blade, plus a dough blade for kneading through all types of dough. The machine measures 10.75″ x 11.25″ x 16”.

Additional Features

– Cord storage wraps under the unit when not in use
– Three-year limited product warranty and 10-year motor warranty

Pros

– Slicing and shredding disc dials to adjust from thin to thick
– Super quiet motor and speedy
– Modern design, easy clean-up by hand or in top drawer of dishwasher (except for base)

Cons

– Older Cuisinart slicing and shredding discs featured two large round safety holes to put your fingers through when picking up and handling.
– It would also be great to include a box to store the discs and two sharp blades in for safe keeping in a kitchen drawer.
– Although the model is sleek and compact, is it sturdy and the base weighs considerably. If you’re looking to add this food processor to your kitchen, make sure you have the space to store it on the counter and not have to lift it out of a cabinet with each use!

The Elite Collection™ 12-Cup food processor retails for CDN $349.99 and is available at The Bay, Home Outfitters, Sears, Canadian Tire, London Drugs, and independent retailers across Canada.
