Rainbow Lionfish

Get freaky and fabulous on Thursday, August 9, when the Vancouver Aquarium hosts its next After Hours event with PRIDE in mind.

High-energy drag performances and shocking aquatic animal sex talks will keep Pride Week vibes strong throughout the evening. Leave the kids with the sitter, dress in your finest drag, grab a drink and let loose with your partner and pals as you explore the Aquarium’s galleries and meet the fiercest animals in the sea.

This is not your typical Aquarium visit. On this evening, you’ll enjoy lip synch performances by local drag queen extraordinaire Carlotta Gurl – a first-ever for After Hours – and learn about outrageous reproductive strategies of marine creatures during Animal Sex Talks.

Show your Pride in true fashion when you don your fanciest fishnet stockings and compete for the crown in the inaugural “Fishiest Drag Performer” contest (keep your outfit ocean-friendly — please omit beads, glitter and sequins).

Engage your five senses while watching Shark: A 4-D Experience, celebrate the incredible diversity in BC waters during special programs with majestic Steller sea lions (or playful sea otters) and get hands-on with marine invertebrates in the Wet Lab.

An intimate affair, the event will tailored for an adult audience. Cocktails, beer and wine will be available for purchase throughout the venue.
