A fast-paced, musical “ad-rap-tation” of Shakespeare’s comedy of mistaken identities, The Bomb-itty of Errors infuses Elizabethan times with live, hip-hop flavour. On stage at The Arts Club Theater’s Review Stage from April 10 to May 10, the actors sing, rap, and rhyme catchy and laugh-out-loud songs that retain much of the Bard’s original text—all while a DJ spins original music by Anami Vice onstage.
The tale involves not one but two sets of twins (Brian Cochrane and Jameson Parker, and David Kaye and Niko Koupantsis) who grow up unaware of his zygote-mate’s existence, but, fear not, their lives will indeed intersect in hilarious and madcap ways.
First performed Off-Broadway in New York, The Bomb-itty of Errors has been performed on stages in Chicago, Philadelphia, London, and Amsterdam, and continues to find new fans around the globe, including Vancouver. The Twenty Something Theatre and Temporary Thing production was nominated at the 2012 Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards for Outstanding Production and Outstanding Direction.
Director Catriona Leger’s 15 years in theatre have taken her across Canada and abroad to both act and direct. Leger is a graduate of École Philippe Gaulier and holds a BFA in Acting and an MFA in Directing from UBC.
