On a boat…with beer! What could be finer on a summery weekend day around Vancouver than sampling craft beer aboard a ship?
Due to early buzz, Vancouver Craft Beer Cruise tickets for the 3:30 and 8 pm sailings were snatched up weeks ahead of the event; a third 11 am sailing was added.
15 of BC’s craft brewers (plus a cider company) made the list on the landmark event: Central City Brewers + Distillers, Coal Harbour Brewing Company, Moon Under Water, Steel & Oak Brewing Co., Steamworks Brewing, Mission Springs Brewing Company, R&B Brewing Co., Lonetree Authentic Dry Cider, Red Truck Beer, Bomber Brewing, Phillips Brewing, Hoyne Brewing Company, Dageraad Brewing, Whistler Brewing Company, Parallel 49 Brewing, and Four Winds Brewing. All were all on board, pouring tasty samples of their brews.
Guests boarded the Magic Spirit, the largest boat in the fleet, with a capacity for 385 passengers, contained on two interior and one exterior (3,000 foot) deck.
The second floor of the ship has a wrap-around deck, perfect for enjoying our late summer sunshine. Food was available for purchase. Extra sampling tokens were sold before and during each of the three sailings.
Judging by event’s popularity, the three-hour tour will likely turn into an annual event. Here’s hoping! More photos this way.
