ME Cabo

Cabo San Lucas is known for its dramatic coastline and high-octane nightlife, and at ME Cabo, the two collide in unmistakable fashion. Set directly on Playa El Médano — one of the area’s most vibrant and swimmable beaches — the adults-only luxury resort positions itself as a social hub first, where music thunders through open-air spaces and the energy escalates fast as the day unfolds.

I arrived on a girls’ getaway with a close friend and within minutes it was clear this was not a retreat designed for hushed afternoons or early nights.

Taboo Beach Club

By midday, Taboo Beach Club shifts into full throttle: DJs spinning music, shots circulating, bass reverberating across the polished pool deck, all within a setting that feels decidedly upscale, even amid the raucous energy.

As the sun drops, the momentum moves upstairs to Confessions Skybar, where resident musicians and a packed rooftop blur the line between lounge and dance floor. ME Cabo leans hard into its party-centric identity, where the music is loud, the drinks are flowing, and restraint isn’t really part of the program.

01-LOBBY-WIDE

The first impression at ME Cabo is sheer scale. The lobby rises dramatically overhead in crisp white planes and sculptural relief, with a gallery-like composition unfolding — warm wood framing layered seating, contemporary art, and a museum-quality sense of design. But what truly commands attention is the horizon line straight ahead.

Because the entire space is open-air, the Sea of Cortez reveals itself immediately, visible from the moment you step inside. The ocean doesn’t sit beyond the architecture; it feels woven into it, as if the building was conceived around that view.

Walking toward the ocean, the palette deepens. Wood-paneled ceilings and darker columns take over as you pass beneath the guest rooms, moving through the central stretch of the lobby. Leather chairs, low tables, and sculptural sofas anchor the interior while straight ahead the crystal-blue sea holds your gaze. It reads almost like a living canvas at the far edge of the room — palms swaying, boats drifting, and jagged rock formations rising in the background.

03-LOBBY-SITTING-AREA

Off to the right, cream-toned sofas face mid-century-inspired leather chairs, centered around wooden coffee tables and decorative accents that keep the space polished. Glass railings and open sightlines maintain the sense of volume established at entry while artwork and additional lounge areas extend deeper into the interior. Even away from the direct ocean view, the scale is expansive and airy.

04-FIRE-PIT-DECK-VIEW

Stepping fully onto the deck, you’re greeted with a tiered outdoor lounge built around a sleek, modern fire pit. Low seating, clean-lined tables, and soft wood decking sit before a sweeping view of the large, winding pool. As the light softens in the early evening, this stretch of terrace becomes a natural focal point with the sea rolling in below, cocktails in hand, and conversation building as the tempo of the resort begins to rise.

05-ROOM-BED-OCEAN-VIEW

Our room was bright, airy, and thoughtfully laid out with the bed oriented toward sliding doors that open onto a private balcony. A hanging wicker chair by the window added a playful detail that screamed “I’m on vacation” while the compact bar setup and streamlined furnishings made everything feel efficient and tidy.

From the balcony vantage point, slatted partitions define the architecture without enclosing it, while woven pendants and recessed lighting create a soft, flattering glow. The room features pale stone floors that offset the richness of the wood paneling, making it feel balanced and not heavy. Next to the hanging chair, a compact seating area, built-in storage, and intentional lighting make the space feel sophisticated while also being practical.

07-ROOM-BACLONY-VIEW

On the front balcony, we could see the resort’s setting stretched outward with palm tops below, boats dotting the bay, and rocky silhouettes at the mouth of the harbor. From here, the setting felt tranquil — a reminder that beyond the music and movement, Cabo’s natural beauty still underpins the experience.

08-ROOM-TV-FRIDGE-COFFEE-STATION

Across from the beds, our room’s entertainment and refreshment setup added a hint of retro charm. The TV was mounted on a freestanding frame with a visible hand crank, giving it an old-school, almost mechanical feel that contrasted nicely with the otherwise modern space. To the side, an arched cabinet opened to a compact bar, Nespresso machine, glassware, and a well-stocked mini fridge. Everything was neatly organized and easy to access, balancing personality with everyday functionality.

09-ROOM-PET-AMENITIES

Beyond its good looks and fun social atmosphere, one thing that distinguishes ME Cabo is its unusually considerate approach to traveling with pets. For us, the welcome began in-room, where a cushioned dog bed, food and water bowls, toys, and a door hanger were waiting on arrival. The setup immediately signaled to us that four-legged guests are not just tolerated but are genuinely welcome here.

That hospitality extended well beyond the room — my friend’s dog joined us throughout the property, from restaurants to bars to the pool area, without issue. It felt less like a special accommodation and more like a philosophy woven into the overall experience.

10-ROOM-BATHROOM-VANITY

By the bathroom, the vanity doubled as a sophisticated get-ready space with a wide marble counter and a softly backlit mirror. Overhead, a woven pendant cast a warm glow while the dedicated chair and tabletop magnifying mirror made it easy to put on makeup or do our hair before going out in the evening. Plush robes hung within our reach and neatly arranged bath amenities gave the area a refined feel.

11-ROOM-FOOD-BEV-CLOSEUP

The refreshments cabinet was well-stocked with bottles, glassware, and bar tools organized alongside a mini fridge, and coffee service tucked within reach. Everything was clearly displayed and well lit, turning what could feel like a standard minibar into a small design moment of its own. It was polished, practical, and very much in step with the hotel’s elevated, social-minded approach.

12-CONFESSIONS-SKYBAR

In the evening, we headed upstairs to Confessions Skybar & Tapas, catching it in that transitional window before the rooftop shifts fully into dance-floor mode. Set high above the water, the open-air space pairs low lighting, sleek furnishings, and a luminous bar with wide views stretching into the darkness.

13-CONFESSIONS-ROOFTOP-NIGHT-VIEW

From that same perch, the view over the resort below was striking. The pool glows electric blue against the night with softly lit pathways tracing lines of light throughout the property. Scanning the horizon, the white façades stand out against the black ocean and the illuminated deck highlights the curves of the pool, offering a clear sense of the resort’s scale.

14-MAMAZZITA-ENTRANCE

The next morning, we headed to Mamazzita for brunch, where the space announced itself with bold confidence, from the chic metal gate to the deep red backdrop and textured brick walls. The entrance area had a feeling that’s lively yet grounded, blending modern design with unmistakable Mexican influence.

Inside, the open-air dining room carries an easy, conversational energy — coffee pouring steadily, breakfast plates arriving, sunlight filtering across the tables — all setting the tone for a morning experience that’s spirited without ever feeling rushed.

15-MAMAZZITA-INTERIOR-ART

As you pass the entrance toward the terrace, a rich mural immediately draws your eye, adding color and personality to the space. Exposed brick and raw wood details ground the vivid artwork and keep the area feeling warm rather than theatrical. Low tables and mixed textiles create a comfortable, laid-back setting, while the open layout allows the room to flow naturally toward the outside seating.

16-MAMAZZITA-OUTDOOR-BREAKFAST

We grabbed a table outdoors on the patio, where the menu featured classics with personality — fruit plates, omelettes, chilaquiles, salmon tartines — alongside dishes like avocado toast which my friend ordered, layered with creamy avocado, bright tomatoes, crumbly cheese, and a soft poached egg that spilled over the top.

Being gluten-free myself, I was pleased to find plenty of satisfying options that didn’t require substitutions or special requests. Breakfast was included with our suite, and the pet-friendly spirit carried seamlessly into the restaurant, where our dog was welcomed at the table with water and access to a nearby small play area with ramps, toys — even a miniature dog house.

17-POOL-VIEW-WIDE

After breakfast, we headed to the pool, which felt serene early in the day. A few loungers were claimed, staff moved quietly between cabanas, and the wide layout offered uninterrupted views of the water and sea beyond.

18-POOLSIDE-LOUNGE-CHAIRS-SELFIE

We captured a sun-soaked moment on the recliners before the music picked up and the afternoon crowd began rolling in. Cocktails in hand, we lounged out on the deck where the resort’s pet-friendly welcome extended to the poolside.

19-POOLSIDE-PET-FRIENDLY

Poncho — my friend’s small dog — fully embraced the downtime, stretching out across a shaded lounger as if he’d booked it himself.

While we kept one eye on the growing buzz around the pool, he seemed content to soak up the breeze and watch the scene unfold from his own front-row perch. For those less inclined toward the pulse of the pool bar, a row of front-facing recliners offered a quieter perch overlooking the Sea of Cortez, where fishing boats and yachts drifted steadily offshore.

20-POOL-DECK-RECLINER-VIEW

Finally, we made our way to the swim-up bar — the epicenter of ME Cabo’s action, where the resort’s party energy gathers and radiates outward across the entire pool deck. DJs commanded the upper level, bass rolling through the water as the pool filled shoulder to shoulder with bachelorette crews, birthday groups, and friends treating the water like a dance floor.

On the surrounding deck, bottle service arrived in full spectacle, with young, fit servers clad in bikinis and swim trunks weaving through the crowd in choreographed processions that left zero room for subtlety. It felt closer to a Vegas day party than a hotel pool — which is entirely the point.

The scene was loud, raucous, and unapologetically uninhibited. We happened to snap a photo of the calm before the storm, signaling the last quiet beat before the party exploded.

All the while, Poncho held court as the festivities swirled around him, stretching comfortably along the edge of the bar while music pulsed and cocktails flowed. Servers welcomed him without hesitation — lounge-side, poolside, even alongside us at the bar — and guests stopped mid-celebration to greet him before diving back into the dance-floor chaos.

It was a fitting final snapshot of ME Cabo: high-volume, high-gloss, and relentlessly social, yet surprisingly fluid in the way it holds it all together.

Whether you’re here for the DJs, the bottle parades, the ocean views, or simply to post up and watch it all unfold, the energy is undeniable, and a good time is all but guaranteed.
