Just an hour from Nadi International Airport on Vitu Levu, InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is an expansive five-star property set amongst gorgeous Natadola Beach.

Swaying palm trees, white sand, and 35 acres of tropical gardens surround the resort’s 266 rooms and suites, designed to represent a Fijian village.

Catering to couples and families alike, there’s an onsite adults-only restaurant and infinity pool as well as a kid’s club and pool, plus a range of activities for all guests to enjoy.

Rooms

Simplicity is the focus here, with warm white walls, dark wood furnishings, wicker furniture with grey and cream pillows, an outdoor space featuring a Cleopatra bathtub, a daybed and cozy wicker chairs.

The sliding glass door is framed by dark wood sliding panels that add a Fijian vibe to the room. They also cleverly darken the room at night via small square panels that shift from an open to closed position.

While you may be here to unplug and unwind to your heart’s content, rooms are outfitted with free wifi, a flatscreen TV, and a work space (just behind the king sized bed) with adjustable Artemide-style lamp.

Bathrooms have dual sinks, chrome fixtures, and my favourite White Gingerlily scent from the Pure Fiji line of wellness and bath products.

Dining

Situated alongside the Sugar Cane train track and overlooking both Meke Lawn and Natadola Bay, Sanasana Restaurant offers both buffet and all-day à la carte dining.

At the resort’s heart, Toba Bar & Grill serves wood-fired pizzas, burgers, Asian noodle dishes, healthy bowls and plant-based options. Sip on one of their cocktails or long drinks at the nearby adults-only pool.

The InterContinental Fiji’s signature restaurant, Navo, overlooks the lagoon and the unspoiled island of Navo. Fine world wines complement modern specialities like Yasawa Island lobster kokoda and Natadola mud crab salad, all prepared in a glass show kitchen.

The restaurant features an adults-only breakfast and dinner (children allowed from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm only).

[Kama Lounge & Bar]

Kama Lounge & Bar is a lovely spot for watching daily torch lighting and sunsets over the South Pacific while sipping on locally-inspired cocktails. You can also order tasty bar snacks, light meals, and afternoon tea here. In the evening, the lounge offers live entertainment.

To mark a special occasion, the InterContinental Fiji offers romantic beachside cabana dining right on Natadola Bay. Dining under the stars is always a special treat, and service includes a personal waiter. And last but not least, 24-hour in-room dining is available.

Spa, Golf, Activities

A haven of peace and relaxation, Spa InterContinental offers a combination of Asian, Eastern, and Western treatment methods to provide balance to mind, body, and soul. The spa menu includes a range of treatments and rituals for deep relaxation and unwind time.

A nearby 18-hole championship Vijay Singh-designed golf course carved into the rolling Fijian landscape – with ocean vistas and coral reef views – awaits golfers, with a complimentary shuttle to the course departing from the resort every half hour. The course can also be reserved for client events, with food and beverage options tailored to suit your group.

In addition to spa days and golfing, there’s off-shore snorkeling (on your own or via a tour), traditional Polynesian fire dancing, torch-lighting ceremonies, a fitness center, and a stunning white sand beach at your doorstep.

We enjoyed pool time with a good book, feeling the gentle tropical breezes, and hearing the thunk of an occasional coconut drop from one of the nearby trees. A one-hour snorkel safari out to one of the resort reefs gave us some time to enjoy the colourful array of fish. Note that at high tide, there’s a wonderful reef accessible from the main beach near the infinity pool.

The resort brochure provided at check in contains a daily guide of both free and paid activities to keep you entertained from dawn to dusk. Fijians love to sing and many have beautiful voices, so take advantage of the choir singing if it’s on during your stay.

Sustainability

In cooperation with IHG Hotel’s Journey to Tomorrow program, the resort has taken several measures to minimize its environmental footprint, including partnering with local businesses and artists, restoring its coral reef, and organizing beach clean-ups.

To help support the local economy, the InterContinental Fiji sources products from Rise Beyond the Reef (an organization that empowers women in rural Fiji), and Pure Fiji, a plant-based skin and body-care product line. Guest rooms feature handmade ironing board covers created by women and youth from remote Fijian villages.

Motifs are inspired by the beauty and quiet strength of Fiji’s landscapes and people.

Turn-down chocolates are produced by neighbouring Sanasana Village.
