Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, Wicked, returns to Canada this year after breaking box office records in 2011. A four-city Canadian tour will bring the multi-award-winning musical from coast to coast, with engagements in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg.

Wicked is based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz.

One – born with emerald-green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious, and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, and how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

The Canadian national tour will include a stop at Vancouver’s Vancouver’s Queen E Theatre from May 28 to June 29 (ticket sale details to be released shortly). Broadway Across Canada subscribers can now purchase Wicked tickets online before the general public.

Wicked has been declared “A Cultural Phenomenon” by Variety and “The Best Musical of the Decade” by Entertainment WeeklyWicked currently has nine productions around the world: New York, London, Japan, Australia, Manila, Seoul, Mexico City, Dublin, and two concurrent North American national tours.

Since its New York premiere a decade ago, Wicked has grossed over $3.2 billion worldwide and has been seen by over 39 million across the globe. To date, the production has been translated into Japanese, German, Dutch, Spanish, and Korean.
