As I write this, my back is being massaged by Hyperice’s Venom 2 Back, an advanced heat and vibration wrap that attaches around your waist via an ample velcro strap. I feel the constant pulse across my lower back in a rhythmic pattern while the heat provides a comforting addition to a quick 10-minute session at my desk.
Over the past two decades, Irvine, California-based Hyperice has developed a wide range of massage devices for the consumer market. Their Venom line consists of leg, shoulder, back, and arm massage wraps, wonderful for loosening muscle tightness, stress, and tension through various parts of the body.
I’ve been a fan of Hyperice products since I was first introduced to the Venom Go, a portable heat and massage product, awhile back.
Designed with HyperHeat™ technology for consistent, even heating, the Venom 2 Back heats up six times faster than a standard heating pad for instant, soothing relief to sore muscles. It’s ideal for pre- or post-workouts and desk jockeys alike.
The package includes the Venom 2, a charger, plus North American, European, UK and Australian plugs so that you can take it on your travels (it’s also TSA-approved to pack into a carry-on). The rechargeable lithium-ion battery lasts for about three hours, depending on settings used.
Once charged, simply download the Hyperice app (iOS, Android), press the power button for a few seconds, allow Bluetooth to locate the Venom 2, then connect and select your settings.

There’s two combinations available for each session: Heat (low, medium, high) and vibration (constant, pulse, or wave patterns).
Heat Levels
Level 1: 45º C (113º F)
Level 2: 50º C (122º F)
Level 3: 55º C (131º F)
Once a session is underway, it’s easy to switch the settings without having to pause or to end the massage. To finish before the session is through, simply press the stop button, then hold the power button to turn off.
