Returning from her honeymoon, already bored with her marriage, Hedda Gabbler finds herself caught between the brilliant but dissolute Ejlert Lovborg and the clutches of the predatory Judge Brack. As a shocking path of destruction unfolds, there can be only one outcome.

Mesmerizing, enigmatic, and destructive, Hedda Gabler is one of theatre’s most infamous characters and is next in the United Players of Vancouver’s current season.

Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabbler, translated and adapted by Error Durbach, is directed by Moya O’Connell and is produced by Fran Burnside.

Moya has spent eight seasons acting at Bard on the Beach and 11 seasons at the Shaw Festival. At Shaw, she was directed in the role of Hedda by theatre legend Martha Henry who herself had played the role early in her career.

Now Moya passes on the theatrical legacy to young Hayley Sullivan (last seen playing Shakespeare in United Players’ 2021-22 production of Emilia).
