Thy Neighbour’s Wife

Coming up at Jericho Arts Centre, United Players of Vancouver presents Thy Neighbour’s Wife, a strange tale of women battling for a good life and authenticity on the prairies in 1915. It’s a frank and scrutinizing look at marriage, manners, money and murder.

The story is based on true events and ultimately shows the strength of sisterhood, as it portrays the first woman who was sentenced to hang in Alberta for a crime that, when a similar one was committed by a man, was seen as “defending the decency of his home.”

Thy Neighbour’s Wife is written by Canadian indigenous award-winning playwright Tara Beagan and stars Rebecca Erin Curtis, Natalie Gifford, Alexis Hope and Cyril Redillas.

Surely to brighten our dark winter days, Thy Neighbour’s Wife, directed by Melissa Oei, performs at Jericho Arts Centre from January 20 to February 12.
