Dyson purifiers contain Air Multiplier technology that generates circulation power to draw pollutants into the machine via a solid-state sensor. Formaldehyde molecules that are 500 times smaller than 0.1 microns are detected, throughout the machine’s lifetime.

HOW IT WORKS
Once powered up, Dyson’s Purifier Cool Formaldehyde Purifying Fan detects and destroys formaldehyde as well as dust, allergens and viruses (including the COVID-19 virus) via its catalytic filter, which captures and breaks down 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns into water and CO2.
Added to this is a layer of activated carbon that removes odours and gases, including VOCs. A reference of common compounds is printed on the back of the unit for easy reference.
A fully-sealed filtration and airflow system combines to produce three phases of purification that trap pollutants within as they remove them from the air you breathe.

When set in Auto mode, the purifier does its thing without additional input required from you. The machine pauses when target air quality has been reached, and switches back on again when levels drop. Airflow speed will also increase and decrease as target air quality and temperature are reached.
When in Manual mode, the LCD will indicate whether you need to increase airflow (which lets the machine reach its clean air target faster).
And in Night mode, the machine will only run with airflow speeds from 1 to 4, for a quiet night’s rest (settings can be personalized from within the app).
About Dyson and COVID-19 Detection
Dyson purifiers were challenged with airborne SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) at an independent lab, using a 0.37 m3 chamber for 90 seconds. Dyson Purifiers were also challenged with Phi-6 bacteriophage (a surrogate to test SARS-CoV-2) at an independent lab, using a 30 m3 chamber. After 90 minutes at maximum fan speed, the airborne concentration in the chamber was reduced by 99.9 % (real-life efficacy may vary).

The Purifier Cool Formaldehyde Purifying Fan works together with a dedicated smart phone app to help analyze your home’s air quality. Automatic sensing and reporting diagnoses pollutants at a molecular level and displays the results on the fan’s LCD screen.
