The title holder of the 2021 Guinness World Records for “Most People Performing a Drum Roll Online Simultaneously” returns for the sixth annual Canada Day Drumming event on Friday, July 1 from 10 am to 11:15 am PDT.
This event aims to unite citizens virtually across the country and around the world.
Highlights will include multicultural drumming performances and livestream participation from cities across Canada. At 11 am, drummers from all corners of the globe are invited to join six minutes of virtual simultaneous drumming!
Organized by Legacy 150 Celebrations Society, the event strives to strengthen community connection, deepen intercultural understanding and enhance civic engagement through one of the world’s most ancient and widely-adopted art forms – percussive arts.
“Even though we can’t be together in person again this year, we can still share in the joy of drumming and celebrate our diversity through percussive arts,” says Richard Wong, National Chair of the Legacy 150 Celebrations Society. “We hope to continue to unite drummers from around the world every year and hope for greater participation, both nationally and globally. Our goal is to have 1000+ individuals or groups join us this year!”

No drumming experience is necessary (you can even use pots or pans, or simply clap along!). Participants are encouraged to join from home or anywhere they can connect online.
In 2021, Canada Day Drumming successfully moved online and saw 174 cities connect virtually with 148 Canadian cities and 26 international cities in 13 countries participating in simultaneous drumming.
The event will be broadcast live on the official website as well as on Facebook Live and YouTube Live.
