Vichy has recently launched a line of Idéal Soleil dry touch body sun protection, with a unique powdery texture that mattifies your skin — even in the most humid climate. Vichy kindly supplied us with several SPF lotions to test and feature this summer (ranging from SPF30 to 60), as well as their After Sun SOS Balm.
Idéal Soleil Dry Touch Body SPF30 & SPF50+
Formulated with silica and volcanic perlite, Idéal Soleil Anti-Shine Dry Touch lotions have a lightweight, creamy, quick-drying texture that also happens to be water and sweat resistant for up to 80 minutes.
These lotions are ideal for active days in the sun, so if you’re out at the beach or pool, or on a bike ride or jog, this lotion will help avoid sunburn. It’s formulated for combination skin as well as oily and sensitive skin types. 200 ml; CAD $29.95 each
Idéal Soleil Anti-Shine Dry Touch Lotion SPF60
Vichy’s 60SPF version of the Dry Touch Lotion is packaged in a smaller tube with the same ingredients and sweat-resistancy. It’s perfect for those more prone to fast sunburning. 50 ml; CAD $28.95
All three lotions go on without a greasy feeling and all have the same scent – slightly chemical – that dissipates in a few seconds. I really felt the absence of thicker, more goopy sunscreen when putting these on my skin! And the matte/dry touch finish really does live up to its name.
Idéal Soleil After Sun SOS Balm
When skin is exposed to the sun, UV rays penetrate its layers and break down the cutaneous (pigmentation) cells’ protective cover. As a result, cells progressively lose their vital substance.
This SOS balm goes on nice and thick yet not greasy, and contains soothing and fortifying Vichy Thermal Spa Water. I noticed that my skin felt relief after a strong sunny afternoon. Vichy also promises that your skin’s redness will fade away. I look forward to using this one, though to be honest I usually head into the shade when UV reports are high. 100 ml; CAD $26.95
Idéal Soleil Lip SPF30
Don’t forget the lips, containing some of the most sensitive skin on our bodies! Unlike some of the other lip SPF products we’ve tried out there (including Kiehl’s Butterstick Lip Treatment SPF 25), this one has a smoother, moisturizing feel on the lips.
It’s packed with the same ingredients as the other Idéal Soleil products above (including Vichy Thermal Spa Water), and suitable for very dry to sensitive and combination skin types. 4.7 ml stick; CAD $14.95
The above Vichy products are hypoallergenic, fragrance- and paraben-free, non-comedogenic (won’t block your skin’s pores) and are tested under dermatological control.
