GIB Swing Span Amber Ale-1

Granville Island Brewery kicks off its 30th anniversary with a new Under the Bridge series, “where every beer experience is a trip down the road less travelled to a destination of delectable discovery”. Swing Span Amber Ale is the series’ first release.

In honour of the island’s industrial heart of the city, the series pays tribute to local artisans, the Granville Island Public Market, and Granville Island Brewing.

The brewery’s motto, making great beer “under the bridge” takes the brewery back to their home roots. Up until 1950, Granville Island operated under a swing span bridge that would open each time a tall ship sailed through.

GIB Swing Span Amber Ale-2

Swing Span’s a medium-bodied amber ale rich with aromas of premium Mosaic and Cascade hops and drinks like an lighter-bodied IPA. It’s got a nice amber colour and a smooth finish. Although we paired it with grilled hot dogs and zucchini, it would stand great on its own, the 5.6% volume adding an extra kick! It would be cool to include an image of the island’s swing span bridge on the bottle, now that our historical curiosity is aroused.

Swing Span Amber Ale is available in six packs as well as in area restaurants and bars.
