Being both a designer and a Pecha Kucha Night fan, I noticed that Cargoh’s founders, Paul and Cariann Burger, will be speaking at the next Pecha Kucha Night event to be held on February 24th at Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre. Cargoh is a new online social marketplace for independent art, design, and culture.

Based in Gastown, Cargoh began in May 2010. Paul Burger worked in the film industry in both Los Angeles and Vancouver. Wife Cariann studied Interior Design at the Design Institute of San Diego. The duo started to hear the same story time and time again: Artists and designers had limited choices in getting their creations to market on a broad scale. And so Cargoh was born.

Cargoh sets itself apart from many online competitors by solving two problems in one go. First, the endless amount of content available online is narrowed down to emerging talents and only the very best creative products are featured. Second, the site utilizes top online marketing and selling tools in order to offer visitors an easy one-stop shopping experience.

The team takes pride in balancing the type of product and aesthetic that it chooses to promote. Every seller gets exposure while Cargoh is able to monitor competition between its sellers.

Paul and Cariann find constant inspiration in Vancouver’s creative community. They promote independent brands and think of their company as a chic virtual marketplace for up-and-coming artists to reach out globally.
