Il Nido restaurant interior

Yesterday evening, I had the pleasure of attending Il Nido’s new menu launch. A lot of changes in the air for this lovely little Italian restaurant, including a newly-renovated space, menu, and Chef Stefanka Marimova at the helm. The friendly and attentive waitstaff brought out a tasty variety of samples from the kitchen, along with accompanying red and white wines.

While I was there, I perused the menu. I was happy to discover another Vancouver restaurant that participates in the OceanWise seafood program. A pasta menu that features lobster stuffed ravioli is always a winner in my book. I also noticed that gluten-free pasta is available upon request.

All of the items were delicious and freshly prepared. The Ricotta Phyllo Paglia, prepared with seasoned ricotta cheese, was my favourite dish.

Chef Marimova has lived in Vancouver for seven years after having trained and worked in Bulgaria, Germany, and Austria. She later lived off the Italian coast on Malta where her love for Italian cuisine was born.

An intimate off-Robson dining spot since 1988, Il Nido is worth a visit simply for the wonderful menu and beautiful little patio that will beckon your attention on a summer evening.
