The Twelve Dates of Christmas

The Arts Club Theatre presents a fun, flirty production to brighten our lead-in to the holidays: Ginna Hoben’s The Twelve Dates of Christmas!

Just a month after seeing her fiancé kiss another woman on national TV, Mary (Genevieve Fleming and Melissa Oei, in alternating performances) is ready to re-enter the dating world. Going on dates that range from comical to bad to comically bad, Mary grows increasingly pessimistic—until she meets someone who changes her outlook on life. This charming one-woman play puts a Sex and the City spin on the holiday season.

“This show is a smart, savvy examination of what it means to be single during the holidays as an urban, 30-something woman,” said Artistic Director Ashlie Corcoran. “And with the hilarious pair of Genevieve Fleming and Melissa Oei led by our stellar director, Barbara Tomasic, this play is going to be seriously funny!”

“This play isn’t your typical Christmas rom-com story. Don’t get me wrong—it’s hilarious—but while you’re laughing, you’re following Mary on her journey of learning about herself. It’s a joy to watch an actor, especially ones as skilled as Genevieve and Melissa, take on a one-woman show and play all the crazy characters that appear in the story.” — Director Barbara Tomasic

On stage at the BMO Theatre Centre’s Newmont Stage through January 3, 2021, this witty and heartwarming play closes out the Arts Club Theatre’s Fall Theatre Trio with festive flair.

The Twelve Dates of Christmas is being produced using the Arts Club’s “bubble method” of theatre production. It will have two rotating casts and crews, led by stars Genevieve Fleming and Melissa Oei, who will each perform seven times a week and rehearse in separate halls.

Director Barbara Tomasic will move between the bubbles. The performance and rehearsal models are designed to be as safe as possible for artists, staff and audience members.
