Pandemic traveller

If you’re wondering what parts of Canada (and beyond) you’re allowed to currently visit, you’re most definitely not alone!

As travel bloggers, we’ve been following pandemic trends, airport and flight operations and the gradual re-opening of tourism, both locally and globally.

An online resource, Time To Travel, can help provide a better picture via their interactive map. You simply type into two fields: where you’re travelling from and what province you’re a resident of. A map of Canada appears with three levels of possibility:

Green = You can travel here
Grey = You can travel here with restrictions
Light brown = You cannot travel here

Below the map, you’ll also find a list of countries that Canadians can travel to, with added notes such as COVID-19 testing prior to and/or upon arrival, self-isolation mandates, and any other key info. As of this writing, you still need to self-isolate upon returning to Canada.

Time to Travel Canada

You may be wondering at this point who or what Time to Travel Canada is all about. This group is actively calling on union leaders across the country to address the travel and tourism crisis as its workforce has been severely impacted due to COVID-19. The Canadian Travel & Tourism Roundtable includes representatives from the airline, airport, hotel and chamber of commerce industries across Canada.

They’re looking to reboot travel and tourism responsibility and feel that it’s possible for Canadian governments to work together in order to provide a future of safe, smart and measured travel.

Blanket restrictions on movement and travel currently in place are simply too broad or unnecessary. Around the world, many countries including Australia, France, Germany, and Italy – have started to re-open borders to safe countries, allowing individuals and businesses to return to a healthy, new normal.

The Time to Travel website was last updated on July 7. While we are not affiliated with the organization in any way, we wholeheartedly approve of its initiative.

You can fly here. You must present the results of a COVID-19 PCR test showing no infection upon arrival. The test must be conducted within 5 days prior to the date of departure. You must also complete a Travel Authorization and secure health insurance prior to departure. Upon return to Canada, you will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

    Hi @Tamiflu,

Are you talking about flying to Canada or to your country? I didn’t catch where you’re from. Thanks!
