Grey Whale-1

False Creek was filled with people trying to get a glimpse of a grey whale that somehow managed its way into our narrow local downtown waters this afternoon.

Grey Whale-4

It was an incredible moment, watching an enormous grey whale swim past the Burrard Bridge, guided by a lone seagull.

I’d been out on my scooter today and made it back just in time from Science World to snap this shot. Its tail is visible in the photo below, towards the bottom right.

About 30 seconds later, the boat paparazzi passed along as well.

You are so lucky to have seen that – I have never seen a whale before though I have tried. Someday… Great pictures to capture the moment.

Thanks, Danielle! All a matter of timing and good weather. Glad you enjoyed the photos. There were about 150 young whales swimming in BC waters not too far from Vancouver in the past week; lots of herring to feed off of.
