Last night’s sold out Vancouver Women in Film Festival’s Spotlight Awards Gala brought together an amazingly talented group of women film makers from Canada and abroad. Vancouver’s Vancity Theatre served as the venue for the gala, and the festival itself will continue throughout the weekend, showing several features and short films.

The gala coincided with International Women’s Day; a silent auction, raffle tickets, and pre-gala reception kicked off the evening.

After the presentations, live music and catered food (as well as Township 7’s wines) were served and enjoyed in the atrium, a beautiful space for mingling.

Let the party begin!

Congratulations to the women who received the awards, and hopefully next year the number of women directors will increase above 10% (right now it’s at 8%). If you have the chance, the festival runs today through Sunday. More information can be found online.
