Beer

The Second Annual Vancouver Craft Beer Week is well on its way to becoming another sold-out sensation. This year, the festival will be held between May 6 to 14. Opening night at Granville Island Brewery is already sold out, where Mayor Gregor Robertson will have the honour of tapping the first cask of Cascadian Dark Ale (the official VCBW Collaboration Beer), a “collaborative” result of 28 BC craft breweries. Cascadian Dark Ale was brewed at R&B Brewing on April 1.

There’s a variety of events sure to please every beer lover, from Biercraft’s Belgian Showcase to Women and Beer II, hosted by the Donnelly Group. Several events are now sold out, however check the entire list of events (with links to purchase tickets) online. More events have been added there recently, and proceeds from the VCBW will go directly to the Red Cross Society’s Tsunami Relief Fund.

I’m looking forward to both learning, enjoying, and being pleasantly surprised by what BC’s finest breweries have in store.
