The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) will present and perform in the Canadian premiere of an exciting and original live show featuring Danny Elfman’s famous film scores on November 23. This show was recently presented at London’s Royal Albert Hall, where Elfman was a guest performer.

This one-of-a-kind evening will include visuals on the big screen of Tim Burton’s original film sketches and drawings from storyboards, celebrating the nearly three-decade-long partnership between two of Hollywood’s top creators.

Fans of Elfman’s former band, Oingo Boingo, will recognize a lot of the quirky and melodic musical elements that eventually morphed into the music for well-loved films Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland, Beetlejuice, and others.

Below is a YouTube clip of Elfman describing his thoughts behind working together with Tim Burton and creating what Vancouverites will be able to see next month.

I’ve been offered a pair of tickets for a lucky reader and guest to attend this show. Leave a comment below telling us your favourite Tim Burton film, like us on Facebook, and for an additional entry, retweet the following:

So hard to choose a favourite! It’s a tie between Big Fish and Edward Scissorhands.

So hard to say my favorite (and really, there are so many I haven’t seen), but I’ll go with Beetlejuice.

Big Fish is the winner in my books, though so many of their collaborations are favourites of mine.

I loved Beetlejuice so much as a child that I drew a door in crayon on my, or my accurately my parent’s, wall.

Let’s also not forget that awesomeness that was Mars Attacks!
