Matt Dean Pettit

Chef Matt Dean Pettit of Toronto’s Rock Lobster Restaurants and cookbook author of The Great Lobster Cookbook, in partnership with Samuel Adams beer will be travelling to Vancouver early next month to collaborate with three talented chefs at their respective restaurants.

YEW seafood + bar, Jamjar Folk Lebanese Food and The Watershed Grill will each craft a unique menu alongside Chef Pettit highlighting the fresh ocean bounty from the Pacific Coast, focusing on sumptuous lobster creations.

In 1984, the beer landscape was vastly different from what you’ll find today. Craft beers were virtually non-existent. Jim Koch, a Bostonian with five generations of brewers behind him, believed it was time to change that. He set out with his great-great grandfather’s recipe and home-brewed the first batch of Samuel Adams Boston Lager in his kitchen using only traditional brewing processes.

Jim hand-delivered samples around Boston, and in April 1985, with only two employees, Samuel Adams Boston Lager made its debut in about 25 bars and restaurants in Boston.

From his first job as a busboy at the young age of 13 to line cook at 14, Matt Pettit’s passion for the food industry began at an early age. Matt’s love for cooking comes from his mother, his passion and nearly 20 years of hospitality experience.

Matt began to work on his own food company and soon gave birth to Rock Lobster Food Co. Since his inaugural pop-up event in March 2012, Rock Lobster has now grown into three bustling restaurants as well as a successful wholesale and retail seafood line.

Matt’s latest exciting projects include the launch of his critically-acclaimed The Great Lobster Cookbook as well as a soon-to-be-released new Food Network Canada TV & web series that Matt will kick off as co-host in early 2016.

The Ultimate Lobster Experience will take place at three Lower Mainland restaurants between November 2 and 4.
